Vision and Mission
To ignite action for change in at risk and undeserved areas through identifying and building effective leaders of all ages who will be empowered to advocate, serve, and implement change in their communities.
Using applied training techniques during a one year train the trainer program in effective marketing, advocacy, communication, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, and business/organizational development, future leaders learn through doing and have an immediate impact on their community. By leveraging current programs and community partners, leadership as a vehicle for community development creates ownership and can promote significant institutional change.
Year Two Strategic Direction
Marin City has a serious lack of access to food and is an established food desert with zero establishments that qualify as "healthy" food outlets. MCCSD manages the Marin City CX3 project in collaboration with the County of Marin and has taken the steps to pass policy and work towards having healthy food options in Marin City. Students in year one will work with CX3 as well as partnering agencies to advocate for healthy food access, work with agencies to adopt healthy food policies, general community and peer outreach, and will be trained as leader in community wellness advocacy.
